Benefits of an Afro-Centric Curriculum by Sankofa Student Consultants

Parents, teachers and thought leaders, it is time to lead our children away from the increasingly immoral educational worldview of the Western world and ensure our children receive an Afro-centric education.

Africans of the diaspora have been for far too long removed from our ancient heritage and ancestral knowledge of collective wisdom gained from over thousands of years of experience.

In the near past, segregated schools were found to be separate and unequal, not because we had inferior teachers, but because we had inferior funding, second-hand books, and outdated equipment and resources.  Unfortunately, after so-called legal integration, the schools remain largely segregated and our community schools continue to be plagued by underfunding and a lack of resources; we’ve successfully removed our African American administrators and teachers out of their jobs.

Today, many of our kids have no self-respect because, throughout their lifetimes, they have been taught by certain teachers who subliminally hate them, and from a curriculum which told them they come from slaves while, simutaneously building up the legacies of European American students. Unfortunately, these same students are being raised by parents who were taught in the same self-deprecating manner.

As time has taught us the errors of our ways, we now have the opportunity to teach our children self-love, respect, and to build up their level of competency.  We have the opportunity to bring back employment for our teachers for the purpose of satisfying our community's needs.

Unfortunately, our enemies will never willingly deconstruct their institutions of white supremacy.  Due to this, it is our duty to form institutions to counter their oppressive regime and to forge our path into tomorrow.  We can continue to offer up our children and future as sacrificial lambs to feed the beast or we can institute our own form of “separate but equal” now that we are aware of how to accomplish this through unity and self-support.

I invite you to begin the conversation of how our children will benefit from receiving an Afro-centric education in this communal public discussion here on my blog and/or at www.SankofaStudent.com; where our only goal is the unification of our nation through education.  And remember, country borders are drawn in blood; where ever there are people willing to spill their blood for liberation, new borders are drawn.
